Maureen MacDonald of Raleigh NC won the
Mrs. America 2009 competition over Labor Day weekend during an all
expense paid 10 day vacation at the beautiful Lowes Ventana Canyon Resort in
Tucson AZ. MacDonald is a stunning 5’10” blonde beauty with beautiful blue
eyes. She is a former Radio City Music Hall Rockette, Actress and Model.
MacDonald is most proud to be a wife (to Mark) and mother of two young
daughters (Valerie and Vanessa). “Maureen competed against 50 other
beautiful women from across the United States and was graceful, calm and
elegant in the competitions of interview, swimsuit, evening gown and on
stage questioning” according to Fred Galle Executive Director for Mrs. North
Carolina America. “She is really an inspiring woman and she is a fantastic
role model for married women across the United States. She works tirelessly
as the state spokesperson for Prevent Child Abuse” according to Mr. Galle.
MacDonald won the Mrs. North Carolina America crown on April 19th 2008 at
the J.E. Broyhill Center in Lenoir NC. MacDonald’s next stop is the Mrs.
World Pageant in Vietnam in November 2009. “MacDonald is an Asheville NC
native and graduated from Jordan Reynolds High School 1998 and Florida State
University in 2001. She will travel all across America promoting and
empowering women” states Mr. Galle.
BACKGROUND
MRS. NORTH CAROLINA AMERICA PAGEANT is the
official preliminary to the MRS. AMERICA Pageant. Contestants compete
in Evening Gown, swimsuit, interview, state costume and onstage questions.
The 34th annual
MRS. NORTH CAROLINA AMERICA pageant in 2009
will be an extravaganza that salutes the most extraordinary and accomplished
married women in North Carolina. This renowned state competition is devoted
to emphasizing that North Carolina’s married women are beautiful, poised and
versatile. “Most of the contestants ages are in their 20’s, 30’s and 40’s,
you must be 18 years of age and married to compete” says Wendy Galle
an Executive Director for MRS. NORTH CAROLINA AMERICA.
The winner of the MRS.
AMERICA crown will travel across the country making personal appearances
during her year's reign. MRS. AMERICA will also represent the U.S. in
the MRS. WORLD Pageant in 2009.
Prize packages have been estimated to be worth $10,000 for the state and
$100,000 including a car for the national title based on previous year’s
awards.

Asheville Native Wins Mrs. North Carolina - Asheville

Lenoir
– Asheville native Maureen MacDonald captured the title
of Mrs. North Carolina America 2008 at a recent pageant
in Lenoir.
An
estimated 500 people attended the show to watch
interview, swimsuit and evening gown competitions.
MacDonald, 27, is a former Radio City Music Hall
Rockette, full-time wife and mother and part-time dance
instructor and model. She was born in Asheville and
graduated early from Florida State University, where she
majored in dance.
Her
platform is "Prevent Child Abuse NC" and she has
appeared with the Rockettes on the Oprah Winfrey Show.
She
lives in Raleigh, is married to Mark MacDonald and has
two daughters: Vanessa, 2, and Valerie, 7 months.
Her
first public appearance in her new role will be Saturday
at the 50th Anniversary Carolina Dogwood Pageant in
Statesville.
The new
Mrs. North Carolina America 2008 winner will next
compete in the Mrs. America Pageant , Aug. 14-30.
The
winner of Mrs. America then goes on to represent the
United States of America at the Mrs. World pageant. Mrs.
World 2008 is being held in Russia on June 26.

Kathryn Stuart
wins Mrs. North Carolina America 2007 pageant
Lenoir, NC
Kathryn Stuart survived a record field of seventeen
contestants to become the 31st Mrs. North Carolina
America. In front of an estimated crowd of 600 people Mrs.
Stuart was able to top the field in while competing in
interview, swimsuit, evening gown and top five final questions.
Contestants from across the entire state competed for the title
of Mrs. North Carolina America 2007 over a two day
stay in the Blue Ridge Mountains.
Kathryn
Stuart is an international model, actress and singer and has
been on the television soap opera “Passions” filmed in Hollywood
California. She was born in Greenwood SC and lives with her
husband Dustin and son Kaden in Matthews NC.
According
to Frederick Galle, Co-Executive Director of Mrs. North Carolina
America, “Kathryn has appeared in print and on television
internationally as an actress and model for products such as
Volkswagen, Paramount, Rack Room Shoes, Ikea, Sonic, and
Bassett. Kathryn is a stunning 5’8” blonde with Navy blue eyes
and of Cherokee Indian heritage. Kathryn who is 36 years old was
Miss South Carolina Teen USA in 1990 then graduated from
Winthrop University with a theater major.”
“Kathryn
will be making her first official appearance at the Charlotte
Bobcats game this Wednesday to appear center court and be
introduced to the public” according to Wendy Galle Co-Executive
Director and former Mrs. North Carolina America 2002.
