Kathryn left for
Tucson AZ this morning. After a lay over in Phoenix she arrived in
Tucson. On her plane ride from Charlotte was Mrs. SC and she met up
with Mrs. OK in the airport on the ride over to the Lowes Ventura
Canyon resort. Kathryn says the resort is beautiful! She was a
little tired, went to the gym for a work out and relaxed in the
room.

Kathryn attended a
salsa aerobics class this morning. Had a lot of fun! Finally she
gets to meet her room mate face to face, Mrs. Kansas. They had
already bonded over the phone on their first talk for over 1 hour.
They will be checking in later today and going to the first official
meeting for all contestants at the cocktail party!

Thursday, August 23, 2007
Contestants
went to the “Greens” today and went on a 1 mile hike. They
received green t-shirts!
They had 3
choices of events to take part in:
-
play with
zoo animals
-
meet with
an interior decorator
-
yoga
session
Needless to
say, Kathryn did not take part with the snakes!!! She decided to
do a yoga class, one of her favorite hobbies. The contestants
also took a ride in Jeeps as well. They will have rehearsals
from 7 – 10 pm.
Kathryn
received her opening number dress that is a beautiful “Carolina
blue” color. The contestants also received their swimsuit shoes
that are 4 inch heels this year - YEAH! Contestants received
pink cowboy hats and Kathryn chose the beautiful antique brown
colored boots.
There will be
a TOP 12 this year and these ladies will have the option to wear
a red 1 or 2 piece for the Final night.

The contestants had
rehearsal in the morning, then lunch. Kathryn gave the Tucson
Mayor his bottle of wine from Richard Childress Winery from Mrs.
NC America.
In the evening the contestants
had dinner
followed by a "Welcome to Tucson AZ" party with News and Media!
Busy time and
the days are flying by!

Mr. NC America
2007 – Dustin Stuart (Kathryn’s husband) arrives in Tucson!
Rehearsals
were cut short today due to the incident with Mrs. Tennessee
being bit by a rattle snake. She was sent to the hospital and is
recovering. Hopefully she will be back at rehearsals by Tuesday!

6:30 am
breakfast, then the contestants went to Nature Museum and saw
lots of great animals. They enjoyed a great view in which you
could see all the way to Mexico! They also went shopping and saw
the western town which is called Old Tucson Studios and Desert
Museum where John Wayne movies have been filmed. They got to see
a stunt show, can can girls (some of the Mrs. America
contestants got to participate) and visited a “Real” General
Store.

After breakfast,
the contestants participated in the Baby Diaper challenge, which
Mrs. District of Columbia won – and she has no children! The
contestants will be taking a pastry kitchen tour later, and at 5
pm they will enjoy dinner at Paftiche restaurant in cocktail
attire.
Other
challenges that contestants will be taking part in: golf,
scavenger hunt, tennis.

All delegates went to Mexico for the day! What a fun time they had.
They visited Nogales, met with the mayor and governor of Magales,
painted ostrich eggs and got to see a mariachi band at Rancho
Esmeralds which was outstanding.

Contestants participated on scavenger hunt during the day. That
evening all delegates got dolled up to attend the cocktail party
with David and Elaine Marmel, the owners of the Mrs. America
pageant.

Saturday,
September 1, 2007
Kat went to the gym for a workout and to clear her head before her
interviews. Her interviews were at 2:28 pm with the 5 judges for
prelims. It went well and she says she had a great time. Rehearsal
from 7-10 pm.

a 6:30 am Swimsuit Shoot with Niki Wior swimsuits. After that...
